Individual Development
We recognise that for many of our young people, self-regulation, social understanding, emotional control and relationship-building can be additionally difficult, so great emphasis is placed on teaching acceptable actions, monitoring individuals’ development and keeping them happy and secure. We want pupils who are engaged in their learning, know what is required to participate, feel valued, and take pride in achievement however small.
Climate for Learning
Making correct choices, responding appropriately, and dealing with challenges feature strongly within the curriculum and is taught explicity and discretely; expectations on pupils are clear and maintained consistently at all times; positive adult role models are essential and this approach is demanded from all staff; there is strong and clear communication and collaboration between school and home over pupils’ behaviour and wellbeing; all incidents are carefully recorded on our online BehaviourWatch system to allow rigorous monitoring and evaluation.
Positive Behaviour Support
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) contributes to the keen and effective focus at The Redway in maintaining a safe, calm, orderly and positive environment for learning. It complements our work in upholding a culture of respect, tolerance, pupil commitment and good behaviour and attitudes, which is free from bullying and harassment. PBS adds to the many strategies we employ, and supplements and develops our whole-school TeamTeach ethos and training.
