Adventure Awaits...
Providing opportunities to enhance learning
It enables pupils to experience the delights of our world through child centred play, discovery, and exploration, promoting activities that stimulate the imagination, creativity and investigation. Here, pupils can take risks safely, take care of themselves and other pupils. Learning is based on the process rather than focusing on an end result and takes place at the pupil’s individual chosen pace.
What is Forest School
Forest School sessions are carried out in a ‘non-classroom’ environment, whether this is onsite in our Forest School area or in the local woods. There are lots of opportunities for personalised learning, with some elements of structure. By providing pupils with time and space to explore, this empowers pupils to take charge of their own learning, choosing what they wish to engage with.
And that is where the learning adventure begins…

A typical session…
Sessions are usually on a weekly basis and group sizes are kept small to maintain a nurturing environment where skills and confidence can accumulate over time.
Each Session is very broadly planned with a range of activities ranging from nature exploration, bush craft, creative activities using a range of hand tools, nature trails, den building, sensory stories. We also explore natural textures and materials, fire craft and outdoor cooking. Support is given to the pupils to promote understanding of how to care for and respect each other and the world around them.
These sessions benefit pupils greatly, enabling them to:

Build & develop confidence, self awareness & self-esteem

Form positive relationships with others.

Support their own well-being.

Develop and enhance communication in all forms.
